Drama Club Reading Night

Hi Guys!

Our next Drama Club event will be a Reading Night, which unfortunately, due to the school play, not take place until December. The good news is that you will all have more time to write!

The concept behind reading night is to showcase student written short plays, stories poems and songs. There is an opportunity not only for writers but for readers and actors.

Submissions will be due in late November or early December. Please remember to keep all content PG, as we don't want to upset parents or younger studies.

So keep your calendars open for Wednesday, December 9th!

One Act Play Night

One Act will take place on Wednesday October 14th in the EST, so it's time to get your scripts and start rehearsing!

Scripts were given out for our One Act Play Night on Tuesday. If you didn't get a script and are still interested in participating, just come to one of our meetings or talk to an exec member.

You are expected to rehearse your show in your own time, but if you need help, ask a senior student and they'll be sure to oblige. A dress rehearsal schedule will be developed soon for all groups to get some rehearsal time in the EST.

Also, the school show this year is going to be the Norm Foster comedy Office Hours, it is a small, fifteen person cast. Audition information will be posted in the next few weeks.

AUDITIONS!!!!

Auditions for the musical UrineTown will be Monday January 15 and Tuesday January 16 2007

There will be a sign-up sheet posted outside the EST or on the bulletein board across from the Auditorium

You need to come with a peice you are prepared to sing that shows off your range, if you need accompniment please get your music to Mr. Jubee before the end of school on friday or bring your own accompniment

Mr. Fraser (who is in the EST most periods) will have the audition peices so if you want to read them over see him

You should come prepared with people you want to read with (read meaning read part of the play so the casting director can get a sense of your acting abilities)

If you are taking the Musical Theatre course you have a spot in the chorus, however if you want a bigger part you must audition

excellent work on the December 6th assembley everyone!!!! it was a huge success even if the audience was unresponsive


we are now working on our presentation for the HOLIDAY show!!!!
Andrew Bala has adapted the script of Twas the night before christmas...and we are doing some interpreativ movemnet to that.....
if you would like to be invovled in this (the holiday show will take place December 22) then come to next weeks meeting!!! (the 19)

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 28th

today we talked to the REPECT commitee about the December 6th assembley
for those of you who dont know what that is, its an assembley dedicated to remebering violence that has happened in schools around north america, in particular the massacre of 14 women at a montreal university. We are putting on several short skits at the begining of the assembley trgeting small acts of violence. We still need people (especially boys) to be some very small parts (2 to 3 lines). You would be playing either a person who was killed saying a few lines about their life b4 they died or a person related in some way to sosemone who died. IF your are interested come out to the EST tmorow (being WEDNESDAY the 29th) and we can defintly find you a part! thank you!!!!!!! DC

TUESDAY October 17

for those of you on the drama trip this is what happened at the meeting:
Emilie posted the beautiful rehearsal schedule on the bulletin board outside the EST (please note all rehearsals in red are in the Auditorium and all rehearsals in blue are in the EST)
senior students need to find their own "staff supervisors" for after shcool rehearsals....junior students if you want help finding someone contact us
-scripts for all groups were handed out, any problems with scripts need to be addressed to talia (hm.talia@gmail.com) she will get u what u need
-if you need to change a rehearsal time please eliminate the middle man and ask the other group u want to change with, then make the appropriate changes to the schedule....we dont want to deal with schedule changes

TUESDAY october 10

meeting re-cap
-scripts were strewn upon the floor, bedlham followed.....after much ruckus forms were filled out and scripts/groups assembled
IF u for some awful and inexplicable reason you DID NOT come to this meeting and therefore did not get a script/group then:
you could becoem a director for a pre exsisting group (we will get you in touch with one of them) OR you could find a script and get a group together cuase unfortuatly we are al out of scripts :(

thats pretty much it::::: there will most likely be TECH WORKSHOP next thursday with harry in the EST and the rREHEARSAL SCHEDULE is being made on thursday and will be posted HERE AND ON THE BULLETEIN BOARD OUTSIDE THE EST on friday

your scripts will be handed out at ur first rehearsal

Q. What is Drama Club??
A. Drama Club is an AWESOME super duper amazingingly fun club. Basically DC is your link to drama at KC. If you want to get involved we will help you do so. Also DC is a really amazing place to meet like minded people from ALl different grades and have a great time.

Q. What is One ACT?
A. One Act is a small, non-stressful, low key night of 7 to 10 minute plays put on by YOU! It is a great way just to get a feel for the stage without too much pressure. Get together in a small group with your friends and come out Tuesday October 10 to get started!

Q. I have found a script I think would be good for one act, how do I kno if its alright?
A. Well, exec needs to approve it, but some general guidelines: no profanity, this is a school event people think! short (7 to 10 minutes) preferably no royalties but if it is MAZING AWESOMELY FANTABOULOUS and the royalties are under 10 (15 MAX)$$ then it might be considered
